Bishop Mathew Mufika was born in Likasi (formerly Jadotville) on March 8, 1956, in the Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was married to Madame Louise Mufika, with whom he had seven children—two sons and five daughters.

Following the passing of his wife in 2014, he later remarried Madame Eva Ndjeru, with whom he shared his final years. Though they did not have children together, their union was a testament to their shared commitment to serving the Kingdom of God.

Dr. Mufika embodied the qualities of a loving, faithful, and compassionate husband, following the biblical example of Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

Dr. Mufika pursued an outstanding academic journey, reflecting his deep commitment to theological and spiritual education:

  • PhD in Missiology(specializing in Sects and Religions in Africa) – North-West University, South Africa (2013–2017).
  • Master’s in Christian Leadership and the New Testament – Cape Theological Seminary (Global University, Missouri, USA) (2006–2011).
  • Bachelor’s with Honors in Theology – Trans Africa Theological College, Zambia (2003–2005).
  • Graduate Diploma in Theology  – United Methodist School of Kolwezi, DRC (1980–1984)

His passion for knowledge and his desire to serve the Church effectively fueled these years of rigorous study, making him a respected authority in the field of Missiology. Throughout his life, he consistently encouraged God’s servants to invest in theological education, emphasizing that a deep understanding of the Word of God is essential for an effective ministry.

Bishop Mathieu Mufika dedicated over 40 years to serving Jesus Christ, including more than 37 years as a pastor. His ministry was defined by visionary leadership and diverse responsibilities:

Throughout his career, Bishop Mufika exemplified dedicated leadership, working passionately to spread the Gospel, training disciples, and strengthen both local and international churches.

Bishop Mufika also contributed to theological literature with a notable book:

His work provides essential insight into the spiritual challenges in Africa, examining pseudo-Christian cults that preach a different gospel (2 Corinthians 11:1-6) and deny the divinity of Christ. He also explores occultism, where traditional African religions invoke gods, ancestors, spirits, or natural elements through rituals, prayers, and ceremonies. Click here to read the book.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Mathew Mufika shaped his ministry with teachings and sermons centered on fundamental themes of the Christian faith:

  • True Repentance:: Bishop Mufika emphasized the importance of genuine repentance as the foundation of a true relationship with God. He believed that without authentic repentance, Christianity becomes merely a religion without power.
  • Sin and Its Consequences: He highlighted the seriousness of sin and the path to reconciliation through the grace of Christ.
  • Evangelism: Inspired by Matthew 28:19, he encouraged the Church to spread the Gospel with passion, zeal, and unwavering dedication.
  • A Transformed Life: He advocated for inner transformation, which should be reflected in a believer’s character, words, and actions.

Bishop Mufika’s messages, deeply rooted in the Bible, continue to inspire and guide Mirevint Church and its members in their walk toward holiness and commitment to Christ.
